Meet Ivy. Ivy grew up in a coconut farmer family where life was hard and it was difficult to make ends meet. It never felt like there was enough and her family was constantly in fear of what would happen to their crops if a storm came. As her parents continued to work very hard on the farm, they found out they could sell their whole coconuts to Dignity at fair trade prices. This brought a much needed security and allowed Ivy to finish high school and have the rare opportunity to attend college.
With her determination and intelligence Ivy graduated with a degree in Food Technology and looked to gain experience. She left to work in the big city, believing this was where her dreams would come true and she would find stability. However, the travel soon became too much to bear and she missed being able to see her family. Ivy decided to pursue her desire to have a stable job close to home because her heart was still there.
Ivy was motivated to pursue a new path in teaching upon returning to her hometown, but as she studied for her teaching review her cousin let her know about a job opening at Dignity. Her cousin was already an employee there and because Ivy trusted her recommendation she decided to apply. Being accepted was confirmation that home was where she was meant to be. Since coming to Dignity, Ivy has served in quality assurance and production, moving from staff roles to leading a team of 60+ workers. Ivy came into her role with a shy and quiet nature and has now become an influential leader who invests in the growth of her team, trains people on skills, and communicates in a dynamic way.
Ivy is a joyful team member with a passion for leading others and giving back to her community. She has truly found a place to thrive and use her skills in leading people with kindness and clarity. She looks ahead to hopefully continuing her education to have an even greater positive impact.
