Meet Rowena. She was a content stay-at-home mom until her family had a medical emergency that forced her to find work. Rowena’s joy was caring for her children and her husband and she loved spending time with them. Their evenings were filled with singing, dancing, and laughter as they enjoyed meals together. Rowena’s husband worked to provide for the family while she took care of the house.
Rowena thought life would always continue in this way, until a medical emergency put one of her children in the hospital. A few months after giving birth to twins, one of them was vomiting continuously and had a loose bowel movement. They had to rush the baby to the emergency room where they were informed that the baby was already extremely dehydrated. Because of the stressful situation, Rowena’s blood pressure shot up and she ended up hospitalized as well.
At the time, they were not financially stable, and the cost of hospitalization was too expensive for them. Her husband did not have consistent work, and though they were grateful for the help of their siblings and relatives during this time, they realized that this was a situation that they did not want to happen again.
So when Rowena was ready, she decided to look for work to help provide for the family. At first she was worried because, as a stay-at-home mom, she had little experience working for a company. That made Rowena extra grateful when she applied at Dignity and was given an opportunity to work.
Rowena shared how her work at Dignity not only helped provide for her family’s daily expenses, but she was also able to save up for a motorcycle that they can use daily. She’s also able to set aside money now for emergency purposes, which they were never able to do before. She does not take her ability to work for granted and continues to enjoy each moment with her family.
