Romer

Meet Romer. When his first family fell apart, he promised himself he’d stay strong and keep moving forward. He had not finished school because he was not passionate about his studies, and instead got married. His first marriage ended in separation because of the toxic actions of his wife. They had one child together and Romer was heartbroken because he knew divorce would mean a loss of relationship with his child. Romer did not want to fight over custody, so his child went to live with the mom. He is able to talk with his first child sometimes, but they now live in different countries which makes it even more complicated.

During this time, Romer still needed to support himself, but he did not know what to do. He was sad about his family’s situation, ashamed that he did not finish school, and confused about his life’s direction. His uncle introduced him to audio engineering, and Romer started working for him as a sound system operator. He discovered that he was passionate about music which made this role a great fit for him. At this time Romero was living in the city to save up money, and started to see himself settling down there for good. But that all changed when his uncle tragically passed away and Romero had to leave his job. He was heartbroken to have lost such a strong mentor figure, and saw it as a sign to return home.

Romer quickly found a job at Dignity which was confirmation to him that this was the right path for him. He enjoyed his new role and fit into the community right away. He also began to see his life change. After his first marriage, he picked up some bad habits in drinking and smoking which he gave up when he started at Dignity. He also met his second wife which brought him so much joy. They began having children and Romer continued working at Dignity to provide for them. Though they do not have much, they live with contentment.

Romer shares, “The best achievement in life is really when you work while being with your family, unlike when you're away. What I really want to pass on to my children is my hard work. That's my ultimate goal in life right now.” He continues to do his best for his family and grow each day.
