Roel

Meet Roel.

He is a simple and cheerful person, always seeing the world with a positive view. He doesn’t mind doing physical work, like fishing, as he finds joy and contentment in whatever he pursues. His mentality is quite commendable, especially since he did not grow up in a wealthy environment.

Roel came from a poor family, where he and his siblings had to work hard together for their daily needs as they lost both their parents early on. Overcoming this early tragedy, he learned the importance of working hard and being responsible for his loved ones. He had the same discipline when he finally had his own family, but the situation where they lived at the time was not ideal for building a family.

He knew that if he wanted to provide for his wife and three kids, he had to work far from home where there are more opportunities for him. He got a job at one of the major food companies in the Philippines, but this meant he was hours away with very few times where he could be with his family.

When Roel found out about Dignity, he immediately decided to apply, knowing that it meant he could finally move back home while still working and providing for his family. He became a machine operator at Dignity, and was recently promoted as Line Leader, and is now responsible for the care and cleanliness of the machines at the plant.

You might have thought his smile big before, but now you’ll always see Roel with an even bigger smile on his face! He would tell you how happy he is to be able to go home from work every day to a house full of kids. He once shared, “What makes me happy is when my three children greet me when I come from work as if we have not seen each other for years, as they ask me “Did you bring home something for us?”

Thanks to Dignity and customers like you, he gets to hear this question everyday. His family gets to be together.
