Meet Mark. He worked odd jobs growing up to help his family put food on the table, but was always searching for something more stable. Mark and his family selflessly helped others even when they were struggling to make ends meet. Their hard work and kindness did not go unnoticed, but it meant they often were in fear of not having enough.
This pressure drove Mark to work a dangerous job deep sea fishing while also selling pandesal, a popular Filipino bread, on the side. He felt like he could never keep up and that his family would be trapped in this state of poverty forever. It felt like the only escape was to work more, but Mark was already at his limit.
Enter Dignity. Mark dreamed of having a safe, reliable job that would provide a steady income for family expenses. When he heard about Dignity, he was not sure if he would get the job but decided to apply anyway. He was so excited to get the job and found that he enjoyed what he was doing. Because of his new job, he was able to save up for the future while helping cover daily needs. Mark now has the space to build community with others and do things he enjoys, like playing basketball. He hopes and plans to continue supporting his family and growing in his role at Dignity.
