Meet Lester. His father worked far away as a fisherman to provide for their family, and he knew that when he grew up he wanted to be close to family. It was sad watching his father leave every month to face the uncertain sea. Lester wanted to do what he could to give back to his family, so he worked hard to complete high school and went away to college.
He dreamed of a day where he would find stability and the family would no longer have to worry about making ends meet. However, soon after starting college the costs became too high and he was forced to drop out. Instead, he started looking for jobs and heard about opportunities at Dignity. When he got the job He did not know if he would be qualified, but was determined to do his best.
The stress of life can sometimes make family tensions high, but Lester continues to stay calm and make peace. At work and at home, Lester does his best to avoid conflict and he has found a supportive community at work. He is able to bring home a stable income for his wife and son while staying close, reversing the narrative that you have to move far away to get a job. Lester is thankful for the sacrifices his parents made, and is now committed to do the same for his family.
