When you work in the government, many would say that it comes with power, and some would say that sometimes it also comes with its fair share of temptations. For Henry, it was something he wanted to avoid.
Henry used to work as a Barangay Kagawad (District Councilor) for three consecutive terms, a total of 11 years. He also became a Vice Chairman of the Barangay Power Association. Although he had powerful positions, he did not want to be among those who abuse their positions.
Henry has three daughters with his wife. He hopes to give a good life and a good future to his family and wants to be a good example for them. However, outside of working for the district, he did not know exactly what he could do to provide for the family.
There came a time when work affected his family and Henry could not get along well with his children. He knew then that things needed to change, but had no idea how. Soon after, Henry did not get another term in the Barangay and was left unemployed. His family had to rely on his wife’s earnings, which at the time, was barely enough for them.
Henry decided to find a job, and was hired at Dignity. He works as a Maintenance Technician, far from what he used to do, but he truly enjoys it.
Since working at Dignity, Henry has been able to help his wife with their daily expenses, invest in a motorcycle, and even had their house renovated. Now that he’s working in a healthy and honest environment, he has more time with his daughters, and it has positively affected their relationships.
Henry shares, “I am proud that I am able to support my family in an honest way without taking advantage of anyone, and that the members of my family are healthy.”
