Vangie

Vangie

Meet Evangeline, known by her friends as "Vangie".  She and her devoted husband have four children.

For many years her husband, a shoemaker, was the only income source for the family so it was hard to put food on the table. They worked very hard to provide the very best they can for their children but they often felt ashamed that they could not give them a better life.

Then, Vangie joined Dignity works on the bottling line primarily attaching the very lids that you see her name written on..

During the morning trainings, Vangie heard the clear emphasis Dignity places on the value of education. Through the trainings and her new income, Vangie and her husband were able to put their oldest daughter through college to earn a bachelor's degree! Her second daughter is finishing her first year of college, and the remaining two who are still in high school plan to follow their older siblings.

When Dignity Coconuts came to the seaside villages, an extensive baseline survey Dignity conducted showed that less than 2% of the population had any education beyond high school. Less than 2%. And dear Evangeline and her husband are vocally PROUD that they are putting all four children through college.

Dignity was Evangeline’s first job. Far more than a job, as Evangeline said, “Dignity gives me hope.”
