Cherry Ann is a proud mother to her four healthy children. She dreams for her children to finish their studies and for them to live the lives they’ve always dreamed of. It sounds like a simple dream, but for Cherry Ann, it felt unreachable.
To provide for the family, her husband decided to work 10 hours from home in Manila, leaving her to take care of the entire household. At the time, she thought that it was the most difficult experience she had to face, but then she got a call. Her husband died in a hit-and-run accident while in Manila. She was widowed.
Cherry Ann was devastated and at a loss for what to do. She never imagined becoming a widow so early or that her kids would grow up without a father. She knew, however, that she needed to be strong for her kids, and that she would now stand as both their mother and their father.
The only option she saw was to work as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. She hated being far from her family, especially knowing how difficult it was to be without both parents because she lost both her parents at an early age. However, it was the only thing she could do. She was thankful to her 5 brothers and 3 sisters, for helping her take care of the kids, but all she really wanted was to be able to live with her family instead of working in a different country.
Then she heard about Dignity. She was extremely happy that finally there was an opportunity for her to work close to home. She immediately applied for work and became part of the packaging team. She was going home to her kids and a full time job!
Cherry Ann shares, “I am so grateful to Dignity. Dignity is such a big help to my family.” She is able to provide for her family, save up for their future, and won’t miss another birthday with her four beautiful children.
