Bernard

Always on the move. That’s Bernard. You will never see him idling around and everyone knows him to be hardworking and helpful. He works hard for his wife and four kids, and dreams only of giving them better lives and a good future. Aside from getting his kids to complete their education, Bernard also hopes to be able to take his family on short trips to beautiful destinations together.

With such big dreams, he had to work twice as hard to reach them. One job was not enough for his family’s daily needs, so he built a pig farm to earn more, but the cost itself and the maintenance of the farm turned out to be another burden he started to carry.

Bernard shares that he would worry at the start of each rainy season because strong storms would often damage his house. Aside from worrying for his family’s safety, the cost of repairs would make his dreams farther to reach.

When he heard of Dignity, he thought it would feel the same as where he used to work. He decided to transfer anyway and work at Dignity where he is a machine operator. He never thought that his decision to work at Dignity would help him and his family get closer to realizing their dreams.

At Dignity, Bernard is earning enough to cover not only for their daily needs, but he also has extra for the cost of maintaining the pig farm. A couple years ago, a super typhoon struck their area and ruined their home. He was happily surprised that Dignity and his fellow colleagues helped repair and fortify his house. For him, this has drastically reduced his worries.

When one of his children had an accident, Bernard felt lost and confused about what to do. For him, it was the toughest challenge he had to face, and it was painful to see his child unconscious. But his fellow Dignity employees stayed by his side to pray and help the entire family until they overcame the challenge. His co-workers have become his family’s greatest supporters.

Bernard and his family have their daily needs met, a support system full of care, a stronger house, and even a motorcycle because of Dignity. And they could not be more grateful!
