Aileen

Meet Aileen– a Chemical Engineering graduate who was drawn to Dignity’s mission to uplift the community while supporting her family. It was during the pandemic that adversity came and she had to decide what route to take.  Aileen could either move away to a distant place where there was an opportunity to have a high-paying job, or return home to be near in caring for family.

She was drawn to the ability to invest in her community, being able to use her hard-earned degree to open doors of opportunity. She shared “I am a family-oriented person, and that's also the reason why I left my job in a distant place, even though the salary there was higher. I want to always be with my mother, especially now that my father is no longer with us. I also want to help my siblings.” After being recommended to Dignity by a friend, Aileen was able to apply her intelligence in a new way while serving others.

Aileen’s heart for service and hardworking nature continues to empower those around her. She has wholeheartedly embraced her new role in creating sustainable development and transformation in marginalized communities. "I saw that there are really those who have a lower standard of living," Aileen observed, prompting a deeper commitment to making a meaningful difference.

Aileen’s commitment to the purpose of Dignity and the ability to help others through her work sustained her through the adjustment period. She is now a dedicated quality assurance (QA) supervisor at dignity who seeks to empower others and create spaces of thriving. She is an invaluable leader who has been transformed by growing in confidence and sharing this same spirit of hope.
